President Obama Owes Us An Apology!

Great post from Fr. Z:

Pres. Obama owes you and me an apology!

Mr. President, you owe me and millions of American Catholics an apology.

You apologized to Islamic extremists and other Muslims abroad and in the United States for something done against the Islamic faith by mistake.

What you are doing to the consciences of Catholics and indeed all American, contrary to the 1st Amendment, you persist in doing on purpose.

As President you have offended me. You have offended millions of Catholic and all American citizens who enjoy religious liberty under the 1st Amendment and who, as human beings, do not deserve to be so demeaned.

Read the rest here. For someone that sure likes to apologize to everyone who is an enemy (or at least not a friend) of the United States (of course not for anything HE has done, but for actions of the previous administration and everyone in our country who doesn't agree with him), he has a hard time admitting he is wrong and apologizing to the faithful Americans he has wronged . . . .

Also check out Now, Apologize for Forcing Us to Violate Our Religion. Here's a brief excerpt:
In order for the Koran incident to be as serious as what you have done to Catholics, you would have to force Muslims to pay for the burning of Korans. You would never do so. It is unthinkable. It should also be unthinkable for you to force Catholics to violate our consciences.

50 Minutes

I topped last week's long run by completing a 50 minute (about 5 mile) run this morning. Unfortunately, this was my only run this week, due to my work schedule and the heat and humidity. I felt really tired by just over 30 minutes, but I pushed myself to keep going. I didn't feel great and didn't run very fast, but I did it. Hopefully I will be able to get in 3 runs next week. We'll see!

Back up to 4 Miles

I did a 40 minute run on Saturday. I believe this is the first time I have done 4 miles all year. I need to build up, because per my latest training plan, I need to do a 6 mile run next week. It will be tough, but I'll give it a shot!

Running Again

After a 3 week and 1 day layoff, I ran 20 minutes over lunch today. I felt pretty good considering it had been so long since I last ran (due to work, vacation, and laziness). I now have a plan I hope to follow up to the big day. We'll see how well I am able to stick with that!

Latest Update

I have gotten a little off track (or more off track) due to a little cold I had for the past week. I didn't feel very well last Wednesday, but I decided I would still do a short run to maintain some of my endurance. I did about 2 miles outside.

I hoped to do a 4 mile run on Saturday, but I had to stop after 2 miles because I felt so weak and achey. I went home, showered, then took a nap on the couch.

I think I am feeling almost 100% today, but I plan to take today off (i still felt pretty bad yesterday) and hopefully give it another shot tomorrow. Fortunately, I still have just over 3 months until race day to build up my distance. I want to do at least one run in the 10 to 11 mile range by the beginning of September so that I can give myself a decent chance of running the entire 13.1 miles on the big day.

I'm Still Here!

I know I have been extremely negligent in updating this blog. However, I am still around and I am still training to run my second half marathon in September. I haven't been following a very regimented training plan of late, but I am working on keeping a base level of running ability and starting to slowly build up my distance.

A week ago last Thursday I ran 35 minutes, which is my longest run in May. Last week, I did 30 minute runs on two days, Monday and Thursday. I hope to do a bit longer run tomorrow, but we will see how the weather holds out.

I hope to come up with and start following a more regimented training plan soon, but a lot of that is going to depend on how I am able to fit my long runs in between work and kids' activities.

Latest Update

I have run 3 times since my last post. Last Friday, I ran 3 miles outside. Monday, I ran a little over 2 miles outside.

I hoped to run outside today, but let's just say it was a little cold.... However, I did run for 20 minutes on an indoor track.
